I agree wellbutrin is an effective antidepressant that works well without weight gain or sexual side effects for most people and is generally well tolerated. Like someone else said which ever works best for you, as each person reacts differently to certain medications.

Wellbutrin XL is now available in generic (the SL has been generic for years). I find I tolerate the extended release tablet once a day tablet much better than the slow release which you need to take more frequently.

Statistics: Best formula for average weight gain?

I did a survey of nearly 1000 people. In the survey I have the starting weight and ending weight (the participants were trying to gain weight).

What is the best formula for eliminating the most errors in finding the average weight gain?

The most accurate way, if you have the before and after results (paired test), of each subject is to perform a hypothesis Z-test on the DIFFERENCES of before and after weights. Analyzing it this way, there can be no outliers and the differences in the starting weights is eliminated.

Your test statistic is Z = Dbar/(sd/vn)

Where Dbar is the average difference weight gain and is compared against a 0 weight gain.

sd is the standard deviation of the differences.

The critical Z value depends on your a-risk.

I need your opinions on weight gain PLEASE?

I’m 5ft, I weigh just over 6 stone. I am unhappy with my size, I want fuller breats, a bigger bum & definately know I need more meat on me.

I do eat like a pig, however, I have fast metabolism and I can’t seem to gain weight.

My family suggested eating atleast 4000/5000 Calories per day if I want to gain weight because that may work?

But - I don’t really know what foods are best to eat to help me reach 4000/5000 Calories if I only eat (normally) 2 hot meals a day & then snacks all through out.

Would it be best if I tried eating 3 hot meals a day?

And snacked 15-20 minutes in between or what?

I really want to gain weight, I feel uncomfortable with my size. I don’t look super skinny, I am in proportion but I would feel more comfy if I was atleast a size 8 or 10. (Currently a UK size 4, which is a US size 0)

you would be very silly to eat 5000 cals a day, you will do yourself more harm than good, your heart will not be able to stand the sudden change in diet and no doubt your arteries will start to clog prematurely..my brother had this same problem and he went to a health food store and bought food supplement that weight lifters ect use, but didnt do any excercise, he manages to put on a few extra pound..theree are lots of people out there who are trying to lose weight but people dont appreciate what it is like to be under weight, and its not usualy because of under eating………if you really need to do this then i stress to you, please try to do it healthily and not just eating crap cos thats not good…hope this helps x

What is the best weight loss method for diabetics type 1?

Insulin plays a major role in weight gain, and even keeps us from losing weight. Insulin is responsible for the storage of all the foods we eat: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. On the other hand, if you eat low-to-moderate glycemic carbohydrates, blood sugars rise more slowly; therefore so does insulin. Which is worse? Gain fast or lose fast?

I have heard many people say it’s dangerous to lose weight fast but what about all those people that gained weight fast.

I think rapid weight gain is more common than rapid weight loss.

Basically a group of people are reviewing all the different weight loss methods that ARE working, from herbal supplements to diet strategies. My mom (who is in her late 50s) lost about 20lbs over the last 2 months through a diet plan they recommended.

I have noticed myself he was little bit out of shape but I am not really all that concerned. Real Madrid and Brazil have their own physical fitness team and I am sure they must have brought it to Ronaldinho’s attention. Hi, im going backpacking for six months soon and am worried about putting on weight as it’s hard to control how healthy your food is when you’re away from home. Also the friend i’m going with is a big eater and when I went away for a month with her last year I ended up putting on half a stone.

Nearly 108 million Americans were overweight or obese in 1999. Until now, obesity is still a serious problem and is expected to reach epidemic levels by 2020 .

One way to prevent this scenario is that people are aware of the risks of being overweight or obese.

Here are some diseases that you put yourself in danger, if you have a lot of extra pounds:

  1. Heart disease

Weight control helps to prevent and combat these diseases.

The rapid weight loss methods, which spread like a fire in those days, no lasting results. More often than not, dieting methods, dietary drinks, food and supplement pills or do not work. If they do, the results are only temporary.

It is better to focus on a healthy weight loss option is the life of results. You need to set realistic goals and not expect to lose a lot of pounds in a short period of time.

1st Not starve your self.

5th Drinking plenty of water.

Your body needs sufficient water to burn and keep your fat cells hydrated and healthy.

6th Avoid too much sugar. Plan your meals around lots of fruits and vegetables, some bread, rice or noodles for the carbo resolve that you need, plus lean meat and protein-rich foods. Sweets, drinks and cakes should be taken once-in-a-while only.

7th See your fat intake. Big is not the offender overweight. You need this to your weight to the correct level. There is no such thing as healthy fats. Olive, peanuts and canola oil. Tuna, salmon and mackerel have omega-3 fats that is good for the heart.

8th Exercise. Leave your car, if you are only a few blocks from home, take the stairs instead of the elevator, jogging, cycling or skating. With these activities and other tasks at home, if you are too lazy to go to the gym and take exercise classes. Make sure you do this regularly, and you will not even notice that you have already dismantled pounds with these mundane activities.

It does not matter how much weight you intend or need to lose. What is important is that you are realistic goals for yourself. Go slowly. If you already lost 5 or 6 pounds, take a break then try to lose the next 5 pounds. Eat healthy, drink plenty of water, enough sleep and exercise. This will give you a higher chance of losing weight and improving your health, which would lead to a new, healthier you.

Vitamin deficiency?

How long does it take to recover from a vitamin deficiency? specifically, C, but anyone with experience in any vitamin deficiency, feel free to chime in. It’s been a couple months but my gums still pain on a daily basis, though much less than when I wasn’t taking vitamin C. My dentist and gum specialist says everything is fine as far as he can see and I do brush/floss regularly. Thank you

keep continuing ur tablets…as vit c is a wter soluble vitamin…it is not stored in ur body like other vitamins like vit a,d e, n k…. so u got to eat it everyday to keep replenishing it… also u can eat citrus fruits like oranges ,grapes… lemons [fresh lemonade probabli…] n one of the richest source of vit c is gooseberrys…. u can try eating it wth salt or pickled ones…. but sureli it will b worth all the efforts…!!

n keep maintaing a good oral hygiene….

Does my baby goat have a vitamin deficiency?

We bought this really skinny and YOUNG boer goat from an auction this Saturday- no mother. She is very young (about 2 or 3 weeks) and very small, but on grain and hay already. I’m assuming that because she is already eating this and is not interested in milk that she may never have been started on it at all. I don’t think she could have been weaned this quickly. At this age they usually at least try to nurse off of your hand or chew on something else. This goat does not. Her leg twists out when she walks- it isn’t broken- and her hoof is tilted. We cut them, but at her age there isn’t much hoof growth yet. Could she have a vitamin deficiency from not getting enough calcium or something from the milk she is supposed to be on? Should I try to get her to nurse on a bottle again or just add vitamins to her grain? What vitamins would help? She is in otherwise healthy condition and despite being skinny, has a healthy appetite. Any suggestions would be help

There was a study done about weaning goat kids early and they can be weaned as early as 4 weeks. I doubt your kid is as young as 2 or 3 weeks. How is the horn growth? That might be a better way to decide age rather than size.

She’s probably got coccidea. Consult with your vet about the best way to treat that. It often causes scours in other species but often doesn’t with goats. But it does really stunt their growth. She may do well with a vit A & D injection. That will help her with her calcium uptake. Alfalfa hay will have plenty of calcium for her.

The suggestion of some Bo-SE was also a good one.

There a few vets that really understand goats so you may have to look around for one. I would have one come out and check on your girl and give you some suggestions on treatment. She may very well need to be wormed as well.

What causes vitamin D deficiency? (besides lack of sunlight and vitamin D in the diet)?

I’m talking major lack of vitamin D. I just got a blood test result back, Normal range is 20-100, test results show mine being at least less than 4 (not sure of the units but the difference from normal range should give you an idea, it’s pretty damn low).

My doctor is sort of a putz and simply said “well I dunno some people just have low vitamin D” and he prescribed me prescription strength vitamin D (50,000 I.U.).

So, anyone have a clue of why my vitamin D would be so damn low?

By the way after taking the vitamin D I’ve had some odd side effects - neck and back pain, headache, going from feeling restless to having no energy at all. it’s weird.

Oh my , same as me. Mine was from being lactose intolerant , smoking , and no sun light. My test was 0 , the fatigue was so bad for months , I couldn’t do anything without my heart pounding out of my chest. Foul smelling urine too. How often do you take the 50,000 ??? I take it once a week. I never had any bad side affects. After a few months on it , I felt so much better and have never felt that way again. What vitamin deficiency causes sore tongue and gums?

Vitamin B2 (riboflavin0 deficiency. Other symptoms you may be suffering from are cracked lips, grainy and sandy feeling eyes, splitting and cracking skin around your fingernails. Eat more foods rich in this vitamin ie: milk, liver, kidney, cheese, leafy green vegies, fish, eggs, yoghurt and beans.

Vitamin D deficiency????? cant cure it so far…. HELP?

so i have this problem with keeping my vitamin D levels up. i have been taking supplements for 8 and it was barely at a normal level when it dropped really low again. now i am taking 50,000 mg of vit. d a day and they have ran like every test possible. (parathyroid, thyroid, calcium…) they just tested me for seliac’s disease and that hasnt came back yet, but i am a healthy teen, like i’m never sick and i dont have any major health problems. so if any of you have any suggestions i would love to hear them!!!!!

Vit. D, cholecalciferol, is not a true vitamin but a steroid hormone and its metabolism is controlled by thyroid hormones. Vit. D is produced in the skin so I have to agree with everyone who suggested exposure to sunlight. I don’t know where you live so I don’t know if this is possible for you at this time of year. I’m happy to hear you have no major health issues at this time but a severe deficiency can lead to a host of problems.

This deficiency is common among teens and during winter and can also be associated with obesity, decreased milk consumption and lack of physical activity. Not all of the factors may apply to you. The Celiac test results may be more revealing. I hope so.

Is slow hair growth a vitamin deficiency? (child)?

My daughter has the slowest growing hair!!

4yo, it was still above her shoulders (while her cousin’s was near her behind).

7yo, last year, cut an inch or two and it’s grown back but no extra.

Can anyone explain about B12 vitamin deficiency?

I am 45 and was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia about 13 years ago. It is a B12 deficiency that requires I take monthly shots of B12. If that is what you have, then it is actually a disorder of the stomach. Your stomach doesn’t have the enzyme that absorbs B12 from what you ingest. My understanding is that taking vitamins or anything oral will not work because your stomach won’t absorb the B12. That is why shots are required. I have always been told it is an older person’s disease, but I was only 32 when I was diagnosed. When I was diagnosed I was tired and also got very winded walking across the room. It felt like I had the just gotten over the flu or something. I have also noticed (not that this makes any sense at all) that when I wait too long to take my shot I tend to get a twitchy eye. I am almost positive that is not listed as a symptom, but it is a personal symptom and I pay attention to it. Hope this helps.

Weight loss taking Lamictal?

I just recently started taking Lamictal for bi polar disorder. I’m only on the 50mg because I just started taking it about 2 and a half weeks ago and my mood has been great so far, but me and my girlfriend have just been noticing that my appetite has changed and my weight has just gone down ever since I started taking it. I’m not exactly the type that should be losing weight either. I’m 17 years old, about 5′2″ and I usually weight around 105 lbs. Lately though, my weight just keeps going down and down and now I weigh about 97 lbs. I love the way the medication is working on me psychologically, but physically, it feels like it’s sucking the life out of me. I don’t know if I should just talk to my psychiatrist about it or ask my therapist on our thursday meeting about it and see what he thinks. Is it normal for me to lose weight as a beginning stage of taking this medication? Or is it something I need to look into and start taking a different medication?

I suggest mentioning it to your doctor. If you are like me when I am happy and feeling great I lose weight. And the opposite when I’m depressed. Lamictal itself usually will not affect your weight either way. It will not prevent you from losing weight as most drugs do and does not increse appetite. It could simply be that you are losing weight because you feel great. In any case discuss it with you psychiatrist not your therapist, I know mine are very clear as to who I should talk to regarding the medical aspect of it(eg:medications) and let him know what is going on. Sebamed is known for its delicacy towards skin. It has been in the market for more than 10 years i reckon, or even longer, positioning themselves as best solution with the sensitive skin.
